Be The Change Day

MESSAGE FROM SUNSHINE

I thought I would give you a little information into the students you will be helping.  Dave and I have met a few of them and can see the obstacles many must overcome just to stay healthy and in school.  Our contact and Youngevity distributor, Corey "Clout" Cleghorn, mentors several students personally and has developed a system whereby he has the students who would like to be mentored accomplish goals that include grades, attendance, respect for authority and the recommendation from the Principle.

It was heart warming to see a few call out to him during our tours with “Hey Mr. Corey, you owe me a mentor”…. And to hear his response as well!  If the teen is interested in retail, he finds a qualified adult to meet with that teen and connects them with volunteering opportunities to learn the skills to enter the job market.  The categories are endless; the sciences, medical field, computer technology, Ministry, finance, music, and the list goes on and on.

To know that there are adults who have navigated the same struggles, come out of it on the other side, and are still there to mentor teens walk the paths they walked (or not walk, as the case may be) provides a sense of hope and respect that these teens actually compete for.  Truly, Corey and the many adults who are mentoring troubled teens by choosing to stay in the battle are changing lives FOR THE GOOD.

Wednesday, August 16, 2017 will be a day that you join the ranks of adults who make a difference in these students lives, and it will be a time of joy and heartwarming meaning for all of us.

With Joy!
Lisa "Sunshine" Briskie

ACTIVITY OF HOPE

Our mission is to listen to their stories with an open heart and document their journey with care, as well as their hopes and dreams so that they know that despite their current circumstances, they have a future and their story does matter.  Self respect and dignity are an important part of shaping a child’s character.  Instilling hope and a sense of belonging is the mission of both My Story Matters and Youngevity Be The Change Foundation.
